Ignoring sour grapes

I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Maui and had the time of my life. Every moment was a combination of thrilling, active, relaxing and peaceful. Every moment except the ones I made the mistake of turning to face whom I will call…The Tag-Along.

In a group of 6 happy travelers The Tag-Along was similar to a bag of unwanted soggy bagels no one wants around but feels guilty about tossing away. And just like soggy bagels, you just don’t know if you can trust them not to get you sick if you gave it a chance and took a bite.

It got me to thinking on the plane ride back how one person has the power to effect the whole. In the case of The Tag-Along, it was a negative effect. But if Tag-Along decided to change the attitude, open up and be more accomadating to others in the group, the postive changes would have made such a wonderful difference. But, since that didn’t happen…I took it upon myself to ignore her sour grapes attitude and not feel guilty about wasting soggy bagels. This it turned out was the best thing I could have done.

I had a lovely vacation and delighted to know that sometimes indifference makes all the difference.
